Dancing On My Own by Simon Wu

Dancing On My Own is the title of a recent book by Simon Wu. Its wide-ranging critical and personal writing is remarkable. AAAC has received reviews by Holland Cotter and several others, but in Simon Wu’s book published in July 2024, we thought his writing on AAAC should be posted and documented as they were written.  For me, there remains a sweet tenderness to those early days. It is a joy to see them see the light of day here. The flavor of his writing should be enjoyed such as it is, in the context of his book, available at Yu & Me Books. For now, it is enough to say these remarks come in his chapter Without Roots But Flowers midst a discussion on Godzilla and the prevalence of institutional ‘whiteness’.

To learn more about this time much can be found on our Blog in the articles on Godzilla and in the historical essay: And He Was Looking for Asia recently updated.

Also in Artspiral.org you can find articles on AADT, Basement Workshop, and in a correct timeline chronology of all the exhibitions that were done.

Comments are welcome.
